If you’re a new patient at the office of Dr. Jones in South Surrey, you probably have some questions about your expected podiatric care. We have taken the time to answer some of our most frequently asked questions below. Q. What does an orthotic do?

A. An orthotic is a device to control excessive motion. Every foot is different so we cast your foot in the proper neutral position (non-weight-bearing) in order to create an individual device especially for your needs. 

We do not mass-produce orthotics.

The orthotics we create for you are not bulky; they are thin and do not require any change in shoe size. They will fit most lace-up shoes, and shoes with up to a 2-inch heel. The thin graphite orthotic can be used for day wear and activity.


Q. How long does an orthotic last?

A. Our graphite-fiber glass composite orthotic (1.2 mm thick) has an average life span of 5-8 years.


Q. Do I need a referral to see Dr. Jones?

A. No, you do not need a referral. New patients are always welcomed at our office. However, an appointment is needed in order to ensure enough time is provided to address each patient’s concerns. If you wish to make an appointment, please feel free to contact our office at 604‑560‑2922. We’ll be happy to arrange an appointment for you at the earliest convenient time.


Q. Is there a charge for podiatry visits?

A. Effective January 1, 2002, podiatry services are no longer covered under the British Columbia Medical Services Plan (MSP). Only those with premium assistance status are eligible for partial coverage for a combined annual limit of 10 visits for chiropractic, massage therapy, naturopathy, physiotherapy and non-surgical podiatry. Surgical podiatry remains a partially-covered benefit for all MSP beneficiaries. Amounts not covered by the British Columbia Medical Services Plan may be partially covered under the patient’s additional, or extended, health care plan (if available). You may contact your insurance provider about your individual coverage with them.


Q. Where is your office located?

A. You can find us in South Surrey at the Croydon Business Centre.


Q. When is your office open?

A. Our South Surrey office is open Monday through Friday. Our location is also open one Saturday per month. Please contact our office to schedule an appointment or with any questions you may have about our availability.


Q. How do I cancel an appointment?

A. If you need to cancel an appointment, we require that you kindly notify us with at least 24-hours’ notice in order that we can provide that appointment time to another individual who needs to be seen. A fee may be assessed for those who do not provide sufficient notice of their cancellation.


Q. Do you accept ICBC or WCB claims?

A. No, we do not.
